The Market
| Type | Open-air market (tents) |
| Location | Hole |
| First Visited | Session 8 |
| Notable Residents | H.G. Farmswatter (visiting); a local grocer, the butcher, trappers |
Description
A bustling market in Hole — a series of tents arranged in a rough circle, with various traders hocking their wares. A local grocer sells fresh fruit and vegetables, the butcher sells fresh meat, and trappers sell furs and pelts. One of the tents serves drinks.
Farmswatter's Waggon
The most active stall is run from a very large wooden waggon — essentially a room on wheels — parked within the market. A wooden table covered in tinctures and signage stands outside it; one sign reads 'Farmswatter's Miracle Cure'. The waggon is run by H.G. Farmswatter and hitched to two horses, ready to move on once the market ends.
Inside, the front room is a workshop — glass vials, distilling machinery, and four small pulsating cacti. A set of doors is locked with heavy chainlink (the chain is on the outside), and a curtain conceals a back room holding an eight-foot cactus with a heart-like flower in a vat of offal and blood.
Notes
- The whole team felt an unnatural thirst around the market and waggon — worse than ordinary desert thirst; near the waggon, Alfie stopped sweating entirely (the giant cactus wicks moisture)
- The market runs weekly — H.G. tells buyers they must return next week to restock the tonic
- Ms March sabotaged the waggon's wheel axle to strand H.G. in Hole, then got herself locked inside the waggon
- Maude bought the Miracle Cure here last week for two cents; this week it cost ten dollars
