Jed Hatchett
At a Glance
Description
Eldest brother and leader of the Hatchett gang. Dressed in stolen finery when he rode into Hole at noon — a man in fine clothes that clearly did not originally belong to him. Leads from the front; calm, deliberate. Expected to arrive in Hole by noon on Session 5's day — already early.
Notes
- Murdered a wealthy couple during a stagecoach robbery outside Goodspring; a surviving witness (the couple's young son) is hidden by Earl
- The Hatchett gang supplemented their core four with hired muscle — Retta and Merv were sent ahead as ringers
- Per Merv's account in Session 6: Jed told the gang they could get guns and money from August March — "he is not Ms March." The gang met August in the mines North of Hole; August asked for Ms March's cut; Jed said they did not have it; guns were pulled; August ran deeper into the mine; the Hatchetts heard a pulsating hum and emerged to find August gone
